It has been an eventful few weeks. Wednesday 15th July 2026 saw the implementation of the new treaty and the ceremonial removal of the old border gates. It will be interesting for all of us to see what this will mean for Gibraltar Business long term.
The Chief Minister announced the new budget in Parliament last week and this year he did not announce any significant changes to tax and social insurance. He did announce increases to tax allowances, but unfortunately did not offer any specific information. He also announced the minimum wage is being raised to £10 per hour and the pensionable age for men is being lowered to 60.
After the announcement, the Income Tax Office has confirmed that there will be no changes to the tax or social insurance rates this year. Their website has also been updated in the last few days to reflect this. In the next few weeks the tax office will send employers a letter summarising the tax codes for their employees. Some employees may receive a new tax code to reflect the increased allowances.

We recommend that all customers upgrade to the latest version as soon as possible. To update EasyPay automatically, go to the Help menu at the top of the screen and select Check for Updates.
Specifically, this version contains some fixes and improvements to the tax year end submission process, which will benefit all users and will help save a few messages to the help desk. This version has also been tested for the upcoming tax year.
If you are using the previous version of EasyPay you will soon receive a warning that you need to update. We added this message a while back to make sure people remember to update EasyPay in July for changes.
We are also busy at work on further improvements and bug fixes. There are likely to be a few more updates over the next few weeks.
